Many women have improved their bladder control by using pelvic muscle exercises (also called Kegel exercises). The StepFree pelvic muscle toning program consists of five interchangeable weights (20-70 grams), one cone shaped plastic shell (less than one inch in diameter and approximately two inches in length), easy to follow patient instructions, and a compact case.
I use it to supplement my sessions with my physical therapist, to strengthen my pelvic floor.
I was having bladder control issues and my doctor suggested seeing a pelvic floor rehab specialist instead of giving me pills. She suggested these amongst other ""exercises"" which has all helped greatly and I'm very happy to find a way to help without a pill.
To insert a tampon, there is an applicator several inches long which insures correct deep placement. As these have no such feature and are very short, I find it impossible to insert them far enough back to get behind the muscle wall. Therefore it is not possible to do any kegle excersicing. I have very weak muscle tone and yet can use the very heaviest weight just as ""effectively"" as I use the lightest because they are not putting any pressure on the weakened muscle. It is very frustrating because I can see that, if they could be inserted correctly, they would probably be very helpful. I have used tampons since I was 13, so I can't believe that at this stage I ""don't know how"" to insert something into my vagina. These turn out, for me, to be of little to no use.
